Fish Story #7 - A Big
Perch For a Little Kid!
In June of 2005, I took my
three boys out for some northern pike fishing on a local
lake known for its abundance of pike. We had caught a
few, although not nearly as many as normal. My oldest
son Luke was casting a jig with a minnow and he had what we
thought was a pike. It turned out to be this HUGE perch
but I couldn't quite net it before it got off near the boat.
I immediately had my youngest son Mark place a worm on a
bobber fished down near the bottom near the boat. Sure
enough within a few minutes his bobber went down! He
pulled up and there was the big perch! I am fairly
certain that this was the same perch since no others bit after
we landed this one. A week or so later, I took my son
David and daughter Laura to the same area of the lake an a
similar thing happened - David lost a huge perch near the boat
and a few minutes later caught it on a tiny minnow fished near
the boat with a bobber.
