The Propane Camping Stove vs.The Backpacking Stove

I don't own a backpacking stove.  I do have a camping stove that my Dad gave me.  The propane camping stove would work fine for day trips where portaging was not involved. I would not use it on wilderness trips however!  That said, I have been camping with others that brought their small backpacking stove (single burner) along and it definitely was a nice addition.  You could brew up some coffee on short notice - nice for those day trips out fishing, eating lunch out on an island.  In one really, really rainy trip, I remember this stove coming in handy when a fire was difficult to build. Also, if there is a fire ban, you really have no choice but to have one (or two) of these stoves on the trip.

Jetboil Personal Cooking System Jetboil Personal Cooking System

The Jetboil stove is a self-contained cooking system that is a little larger than a Nalgene bottle. Thanks to a patented Flux Ring that distributes heat evenly over the bottom of the cup, the Jetboil can boil a cup full of water in 30 seconds.
